Arts Outreach

Artists have always been an important part of the SP&SA; congregation, generously sharing their talents in worship, children’s programs, adult education, and concerts. Several professional arts organizations also make SP&SA; their home for administrative offices and perform in the large church sanctuary or in the West End Theatre, located on the second floor.

Gay Gotham Chorus
Gay Gotham Chorus is the men’s chorus in residence at SP&SA.; It was founded in 1993 with a mission to serve the gay, lesbian, and transgendered community through the cultural enrichment of audiences and members alike. Since its founding, the Chorus has earned critical and audience acclaim for its performances of a diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary choral literature and commissioned works. www.gaygothamchorus.org

West End Theatre

On the second floor of the church, there is a beautiful and unique performance space: The West End Theatre. It is used by artist members of the congregation and is also the home of several professional companies.

Pan Asian Repertory
Pan Asian Rep was founded to nurture and support those who are dedicated to a life in the living theatre. It is an ensemble united by professional commitment, shaped by cultural heritage, and made up of artists who share the celebratory traditions of rhythm and movement. Its goal is to be a springboard to forging a repertoire of new Asian American works. Pan Asian Rep’s plays reflect the evolution of Asians in America — secrets, struggles and celebrations — expressed in a myriad of artistic modes and in a newfound common language: English. www.panasianrep.org

Six Figures Theater Company
Six Figures is a not-for-profit theatre company that was founded in 1990 by six women who found that their experiences and sensibilities were underrepresented in the canon of commercial theatre, and committed themselves to developing plays and supporting voices that might not otherwise be heard.
